Frequently Asked Questions (Admission)GeneralQ: Where can I get information about the admissions for foreign students of Tsinghua University? A: Just here. http://intlstudent.cic.tsinghua.edu.cn。 Q: Where can I get the application form? A: All the application is processed over the online application system. Please see the introduction of the program concerned. Q: Some agencies or persons say that they have cooperation with Tsinghua University on admissions of foreign students. Should I trust them? A: Tsinghua University does not have cooperation with any agency or person on the admission affairs. We accepts applications directly from students. Q: What should I do if I decide not to come to Tsinghua after I am admitted? A: If you get the admission and decide not to come to Tsinghua, please inform us as soon as possible. We will cancel your admission and do not send you the documents. If you have received the admission documents, including the Admission Notice and the Visa Application Form, please send them back or dispose them. Do NOT use these documents to apply for a student's visa. For security reasons, the information of students who get the admission documents but not register at the university will be reported to the immigration authority. The student's visa applied with these documents may be canceled and the visa holder may be punished for illegal use of student's visa. The admitted students who failed to inform the university for the absense in advance will have records which will affect their further applications negatively. Graduate ProgramQ: Does Tsinghua University offer postgraduate programs which are delivered in English for International Students? A: We offer 11 master’s programs and one doctoral program which are fully conducted in English in 2012. Please find the detailed information of each individual program on the section of Graduate Programs in English here on http://intlstudent.cic.tsinghua.edu.cn. For some doctoral programs particular in Science and Engineering, applicants who are skilled in English but have no Chinese language proficiency also have the chance to be enrolled. We suggest you confirm with the supervisor in the school/department concerned whether all the courses can be conducted in English or not. Q: I can not find the specific courses and credits which I should take for the interested program, how can I find this information? A: Please find the specific information about one program such as outline of the program, courses and credits on the website of the related school/department or directly contact with the faculty and staff in the school/department. For this detailed information of English instructed program, please see on this website. Q: Does your university offer some scholarship? What kind of scholarship can I apply? A: We currently offer three types of scholarships for postgraduate study at Tsinghua, which are Tsinghua recommended Chinese Government Scholarship, Beijing Government Scholarship and Tsinghua Scholarship. The instruction of how to apply them and the specific introduction of those scholarships are available on this website. Q: Is there an examination or interview conducted after the submission of application documents for all the postgraduate applicants? A: Normally, the application documents are reviewed for the admission result, but for some schools/departments, a writing test or interview may be conducted after the documents review. You will be further notified by the school/department about the test and interview if necessary. Q: I failed to submit the online application several times, and I do not know what happened excluding some technical problems. A: If your online application can not be made successfully several times, please check whether you open it with the appropriate browser, the supporting browsers for this system could be found on the “Instructions of Online Application System” on this website. Q: Which kind of HSK certificate should I submit? A: For the Chinese instructed postgraduate programs, HSK certificate is essentially requested. The HSK certificate what we need is the test score of HSK test held by “Han Ban”, not by Beijing Language and Culture University. Q: I am a Chinese student who has been studying abroad for many years, how can I apply for postgraduate programs at Tsinghua University? A: Chinese applicants are not eligible for applying postgraduate study through International Students application system, please contact with Tsinghua Graduate Admission Office at yjszb@mail.tsinghua.edu.cn for enquiry of the admission of Chinese students. Visiting/Exchange Student ProgramQ: What are the procedures of the application for Visiting/Exchange Programs of Tsinghua University? A: Please see the introduction for visiting students or exchange students to confirm that you are eligible for the program. (1) Apply online at http://intlstudent.cic.tsinghua.edu.cn/app/; (2) Send the required documents by mail as stated in http://intlstudent.cic.tsinghua.edu.cn/EN/advanced-study/visiting.html or http://intlstudent.cic.tsinghua.edu.cn/EN/advanced-study/exchange.html; (3) The Admission Package including the Admission Notice, Visa Application Form and the Instructions of Tsinghua University Foreign Student Dormitory Application System will be sent at the beginning of January for spring semester and at the beginning of July for fall semester. Q: How about the requirement of the credits for the visiting/exchange students in Tsinghua University? How about the grading system in Tsinghua? How can I transfer my credits in Tsinghua back to my home university? A: The maximum academic workload for visiting/exchange students here is 20 credits per semester, in which 8 credits in maximum could be out your major here (One credit amounts to 16 class hours.). For example, a visiting/exchange student majored in Computer Science can choose courses up to 8 credits in Department of Chinese Language and Literature for his Chinese language learning. The visiting/exchange students should bring their transcripts with all the grades in Tsinghua University back to their home university to transfer the credits. The specific policy of transferring credits varies depends on the different regulations in the outgoing home universities. The transcript of the spring semester will be sent at the beginning of the fall semester at the same year (Normally in June), and the transcript of the fall semester will be sent at the beginning of the spring semester of the next year (Normally in December). Q: What kind of courses can I choose as a visiting/exchange student in Tsinghua University? How can I know which course is taught in English? How can I get the courses information and choose the courses? A: Visiting/exchange student here can choose courses both at undergraduate and graduate level. But the special programs e.g. MBA program, which are not open for the whole university are also not open to the visiting/exchange students. Q: Can I apply for the scholarship? A: Tsinghua University doesn’t offer scholarship for the non-degree international students including the visiting/exchange students. Q: How can I get the academic calendar of Tsinghua University?
