1. Introduction of ICPM

Tsinghua University, Beijing is one of China’s most prestigious universities.  It celebrated its centenary in 2011. The school of civil engineering is one of China’s leading institutions for teaching and research. Studying in Tsinghua will expose you to world-leading academics, in an exciting environment.

Tsinghua University is located on a 3.92 square kilometers beautiful parkland campus northwest Beijing. About 50000 people, including all fulltime students, live on campus. Tsinghua offers students a favorable environment for teaching, learning, and research. Buildings on campus comprise 1.99 million square meters of floor space, including seven libraries, and many teaching buildings.

Department of construction management is part of the School of Civil Engineering. The school has international profile with leading researchers working across many disciplines.

China has the fastest growing economy in the world. In the next ten years it will be the world biggest economy. The construction sector in China has now the largest annual output. The industry has modernized and it’s growing its influence overseas, Chinese materials, contractors, and design specialists are now exporting their skills to help the development in many overseas countries.

The Master of Engineering in International Construction Project Management (ICPM) program aims to broaden and deepen students' knowledge of contemporary issues in the leadership, strategic management, and delivery of international projects to provide value to stakeholders and society as a whole. The unique characteristic of this program is to expose students to a new way of thinking. Awareness of how Chinese organizations operate, manage, and delivery projects in the fast-changing world. The program is practice-oriented. Students will be taught to think creatively, devoted innovative ideas, and to use tools and techniques for effective management of projects. Students will be taught about problems solving, leadership, and the exploitation of technology. This is a unique opportunity to embrace Chinese culture and thinking and to engage in the world of construction.

 

2. Courses

Students are required to complete all courses (25 credit hours in total) as follows.

3. Plan of Study / Milestones

This program consists of four semesters and lasts for 18 months. Students will begin the program in summer semesters (around mid-June).

4. Admission Requirements

  • Holding a Bachelor degree;
  • Qualified English proficiency. The program will be delivered in English. Applicant should have ability in conversational and technical English.
  • The program is open to applicants who want to develop their expertise in international construction management.

5. Application Documents

1) The completed Foreigner's Application Form for Admission to Graduate Programs of Tsinghua University with 2-inch recent photo, signed by the applicant.

2) CV and Personal Statement.

3) The Original or the notarized degree certificate or proof of education in academic institution (need to submit original or notarized degree certificate after being awarded), and academic transcript. The degree certificate and academic transcript must be officially sealed.

4) Two academic recommendation letters from scholars of associate professorship or higher (must show referee’s phone number and email address on the letter).

5) A copy of the page with personal information in the passport (personal and ordinary passport).

6) For non-English speaking students, please provide English level certificates, e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, etc.

7)The completed Application Form for Tsinghua University Scholarship (if applicable)

The application fee is RMB 600 (NON-REFUNDABLE).

The certificates provided should be the original documents in CHINESE or in ENGLISH, otherwise notarized translations in Chinese or English are required. NONE of the above application documents will be returned.

6. Application Procedure

Step 1: Online Application

Complete Online Application on the website of Foreign Student Affairs Office, Tsinghua University (http://intlstudent.cic.tsinghua.edu.cn). Print and sign the Application Form produced by the system after the application status changes to "verified". For scholarship application documents, please refer section "Tuition and Scholarship" below.

Step 2: Documents Submission

Submit the application documents listed above to the address indicated below by post mail or in person.

Step 3: Application Fee Payment

Two ways to pay application fee:

1. Pay online using credit card;

After your online application form is verified or the materials are received by Tsinghua University, the staff will make you the online payment draft, and at the same time, an email will be automatically sent out to remind you to pay the application fee via the online application system.

2. Pay in cash at the Foreign Student Affairs Office (Room 120,Zijing Building 22)of Tsinghua University.

7. Application Schedule

Phase 1: November 1, 2011 -- December 31, 2011

Phase 2: January 1, 2012 -- February 29, 2012

Both the Online Application and a complete set of Application documents should be completed and the package should be received by February 29, 2012.

Please note that for the Government or University scholarship applicants, online application and all the application documents should be submitted before December 31, 2011.

8. Tuition and Scholarship

Tuition

The tuition fee of the whole program is RMB 158,000, in which the medical insurance (¥900/full program) is included.

Scholarship

  • The qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS), Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS), or other scholarship. For more information, please visit http://intlstudent.cic.tsinghua.edu.cn .
  • This program provides 50% of the students with varied scholarship, which may cover 20% - 60% of the tuition fee.
